Immigration Ban (Entry Ban)
An immigration ban bars a foreign national from entering the UAE, distinct from a labour ban (which only blocks new work permits) and a travel ban (which prevents leaving). Entry bans arise from several sources: deportation orders (judicial or administrative), serious overstay, absconding reports, criminal convictions, security flags, and in some cases unpaid debts converted into criminal matters. Duration varies — some bans are time-limited, while deportation-based bans are indefinite unless lifted through a special permission process; re-entry after deportation requires an exemption application to the competent authority. The practical workflow is diagnosis first: a status check through ICP or GDRFA channels or via a lawyer's enquiry to determine whether a ban exists, what type, and which authority owns it, because the lifting route differs entirely depending on whether the source is immigration, MOHRE, the courts, or a security file. Many 'banned' clients turn out to have a different, solvable flag.
