Travel Ban

A travel ban in the UAE is an order preventing a named individual from leaving or entering the country. It can be issued civilly — usually by a creditor filing a petition to secure repayment of a debt — or criminally, by the Public Prosecution or a court as part of an investigation or pending judgment. Immigration authorities enforce the ban at all land, air, and sea ports using the person's Emirates ID or passport. A civil travel ban generally requires the claimant to deposit a financial guarantee and falls away when the debt is settled or the case resolved. A criminal ban persists until the underlying case is closed. Individuals can check their status through Ministry of Interior or Dubai Police e-services before departure.
