Notarization
التوثيق
Notarization is the formal authentication of a document or signature by a Notary Public, an officer authorised by the UAE Ministry of Justice or the judicial department of each emirate. A notarised document carries an official stamp and registration number, creating a strong legal presumption of authenticity that courts will not easily disregard. Typical notarised instruments include powers of attorney, property sale contracts, corporate resolutions, affidavits, declarations of paternity, and foundational documents of companies. Parties appear in person before the notary with valid Emirates IDs, and the notary verifies their identity, legal capacity, and the Arabic content of the document. Notarization is a prerequisite for many registrations — particularly with the Land Department, courts, and the Department of Economic Development.
