Emirates ID
الهوية الإماراتية
The Emirates ID is the national identity card issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) to every citizen and resident of the UAE. It stores biometric data, a unique 15-digit number, and a digital chip used for government and banking services. By law, residents must carry the Emirates ID at all times and present it when dealing with public or private institutions — opening a bank account, signing a tenancy contract, registering a SIM card, or accessing healthcare. The card is tied to the holder's residency visa and must be renewed with it. Loss or expiry of the Emirates ID can suspend most legal and commercial transactions until it is reissued.
