    Article 1

    Article (1) Definitions For the purposes of implementing the provisions of this Resolution, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned to each of them, unless the context requires otherwise: State : The United Arab Emirates. Ministry : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister : The Minister of Foreign Affairs. Council : The Council for the Affairs of Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps.

    Cabinet Resolution of 2019 Regarding the Executive Regulations of Federal Law of 2016 Regarding the Diplomatic Orders and Medals 2 Members of the Corps : Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps. Order : A metal alloy made of pure gold, silver, bronze, or incorporating precious stones, taking various forms and may be affixed to a sash. Medal : A metal alloy, usually plated with gold, silver, or bronze, taking various forms. Insignia of the Order or Medal : An insignia reflecting the colors of the ribbon of the Order or Medal. Certificate : An official document issued by the granting authority of the Order or Medal, specifying the identity of the recipient, the name of the Order or Medal, and the date of conferment.

    Article 2

    Article (2) Scope of Application 1. The provisions of this Resolution shall apply to current and former members of the Corps who are UAE nationals. 2. By way of exception to the preceding clause, the provisions of this Resolution shall apply to foreign members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps who have enhanced the State's relations with brotherly and friendly states and international organizations, or who have rendered distinguished and valuable services to the State, or whose work merits recognition.

    Article 3

    Article (3) Precedence of Wearing Orders and Medals The order of precedence for wearing the Orders and Medals referred to in this Resolution shall be as follows: 1. Order of Diplomatic Merit - First Class 2. Order of Diplomatic Merit - Second Class 3. Distinguished Diplomatic Service Meda 4. Diplomatic Service Medal

    Article 4

    Article (4) The Orders and Medals conferred by the President of the State shall have precedence over the other Orders and Medals referred to in this Resolution.

    Article 5

    Article (5) Members of the Corps may not accept foreign Orders, Medals, or insignia except by a decision of the Minister. National Orders, Medals, and insignia shall take precedence over Orders and Medals conferred by foreign entities.

    Article 6

    Article (6) Procedures for Granting Orders and Medals 1. The Council shall receive recommendations and endorsements from the Minister's assistants, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, directors of departments, and heads of representative missions abroad, regarding the nomination of those who meet the conditions for granting Orders and Medals. 2. The Council shall complete the nomination procedures regarding the determination of the names of the nominees, their official and social status, and the class of the Order and Medal in accordance with the provisions of this Resolution.

    Article 7

    Article (7) Specifications of the Order of Diplomatic Merit, First Class The specifications of the Order of Diplomatic Merit, First Class, shall be in accordance with the specifications, measurements, shapes, and designs specified by reference number with the manufacturing company, namely design number (B170721-01 mod 3). It consists of four parts, which are the medal, the ribbon, the ribbon bar, and a rose-shaped button for the jacket lapel badge, as follows: 1. Part One (The Medal):

The obverse features a design of seven rays with a palm frond woven into each of the seven large rays in the center, with a diameter of (22) mm. The Emblem of the United Arab Emirates appears within a convex circle, and the obverse and edges of the medal are polished. On the reverse, a falcon is depicted in the center, with the inscription "United Arab Emirates" appearing above it, and at an equal distance below the falcon, the inscription "Order of Diplomatic Merit." All inscriptions are in Diwani script. To indicate the class, "First Class" appears in Kufic script. The inscriptions on the reverse of the Order are highly polished against a matte background to maximize contrast. 2. Part Two (The Ribbon): The medal hangs from a ribbon made of a cotton-nylon blend, in accordance with the international MOD standards. The ribbon is ribbed with a width of (34) mm and features the colors of the UAE flag, flanked by a golden stripe on each side. The colors appear from left to right as follows: black 3 mm wide, white 3 mm wide, green 3 mm wide, red 7 mm wide, gold 2 mm wide, red 7 mm wide, green 3 mm wide, white 3 mm wide, black 3 mm wide. 3. Part Three (The Ribbon Bar): Dimensions: (34 mm x 12 mm) with an invisible brooch pin attached via a stainless-steel pin. 4. Part Four (Rose-shaped Button for the Jacket Lapel Badge): The button is in the shape of a small circular rose with a diameter of (8) mm with (2) additional golden wings to indicate the First Class. The word "Merit" in Arabic rendered in sterling silver plated with gold. The button is mounted on a white vitreous enamel disc made of gilded silver, which allows the attachment of a magnetic clasp.

    Article 8

    Article (8) Specifications of the Order of Diplomatic Merit, Second Class The specifications of the Order of Diplomatic Merit, Second Class, shall be in accordance with the specifications, measurements, shapes, and designs specified by reference number with the manufacturing company, namely design number (B170721-02 mod 3). It consists of four parts, which are the medal, the ribbon, the ribbon bar, and a rose-shaped button for the jacket lapel badge, as follows: 1. Part One (The Medal): It consists of three pieces, each (50) mm in diameter, made of sterling silver (925/1000), independently hallmarked at the Assay Office in the United Kingdom, and plated with 24- carat gold (23.9 ct). The word "Merit" in Arabic is in sterling silver plated with gold. The button is mounted on a white vitreous enamel disc made of gilded silver, which allows the attachment of a magnetic clasp.

    Article 9

    Article (9) Specifications of the Distinguished Diplomatic Service Medal (First Class) The specifications of the Distinguished Diplomatic Service Medal (First Class) shall be in accordance with the specifications, measurements, shapes, and designs specified by reference number with the manufacturing company, namely design number (B170721-03 mod 3). It consists of four parts, which are a neck badge, the neck ribbon, the ribbon bar, and a rose- shaped button for the jacket lapel badge, as follows: 1. Part One (Neck-Worn Insignia): It consists of two circular pieces, each (65) mm in diameter, made of sterling silver (925/1000) independently hallmarked at the Assay Office in the United Kingdom, and plated with 24-carat gold (23.9 ct). It is decorated with reinforced vitreous enamel featuring the colors of the UAE flag. The insignia consists of two parts: the official Emblem of the United Arab Emirates is featured on a background of a repeating traditional cultural pattern within the circle. The following can be read in Arabic in traditional Diwani script above the State's Emblem: "United Arab Emirates," and below it the inscription "Distinguished Diplomatic Service Medal". The insignia is designed in a circular form with seven ornamental segments along the edges, with the number seven representing the number of Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. A ring is attached to it to secure the necklace. On the other side of the insignia, in its center, there is an engraved traditional cultural pattern. 2. Part Two (The Necklace): The necklace is made of a cotton-nylon blend, in accordance with the international MOD- GB standards. The length of the cordon is (70) cm, and its width is (34) mm, features the colors of the UAE flag: red, green, white, and black, and flanked by a golden ribbon on each

Part Three (The Ribbon Holder): Dimensions: 34 mm x 12 mm, with an invisible brooch pin attached via a stainless-steel pin. 4. Part Four (Rose-shaped Button for Jacket Lapel Badge): It is in the shape of a small circular rose with a diameter of (8) mm with additional golden wings mounted on a white vitreous enamel disc made of gilded silver, which forms a background for the button and allows the attachment of a magnetic clasp. The word "Service" in Arabic appears in the center of the button, engraved on gold-plated sterling silver disc.

    Article 10

    Article (10) Specifications of the Diplomatic Service Medal (Second Class) The specifications of the Diplomatic Service Medal (Second Class) shall be in accordance with the specifications, measurements, shapes, and design specified by reference number with the manufacturing company, namely design number (B170721-04 mod 3). It consists of four parts, which are a neck-worn insignia, the neck ribbon, the ribbon bar, and a rose-shaped button for the jacket lapel badge, as follows: 1. Part One (Neck-Worn Insignia): It consists of two circular pieces, each with a diameter of (65) mm, made of sterling silver (925/1000), plated with pure silver, and independently hallmarked at the Assay Office in the United Kingdom. It is decorated with reinforced vitreous enamel features the colors of the UAE flag. The insignia consists of two parts: the official Emblem of the United Arab Emirates is featured on a background of a repeating traditional cultural pattern within the circle. The following can be read in Arabic in the traditional Diwani script above the State's Emblem: "United Arab Emirates," and below the State's Emblem, the inscription "Diplomatic Service Medal" is written. Part Two (The Necklace): It is made of a cotton-nylon blend in accordance with the international MOD standards, with a length of (70) cm and a width of (34) mm, features the colors of the UAE flag: red, green, white, and black, and flanked by a golden ribbon on each side. The colors are defined as follows: gold 3.5 mm wide, red 12 mm wide, green 5.0 mm wide, white 5.0 mm wide, black 5.0 mm wide, and gold 3.5 mm wide. 3. Part Three (The Ribbon Holder): Dimensions: 34 mm x 12 mm with an invisible brooch pin attached via a stainless-steel pin. 4.     Article 11

    Article (11) The Orders, Medals, and insignia granted before the date of entry into force of the provisions of this Resolution may be worn, taking into account the provisions of precedence in wearing them as set out herein.

    Article (12) The Minister may amend the procedures and mechanism for granting Orders and Medals, as well as the shapes, designs, specifications, and measurements referred to in this Resolution.
