Article (1) In addition to the jurisdiction of the Special Tribunal for Settlement of Disputes between Landlords and Tenants (the “Rent Tribunal”) pursuant to the above mentioned Decree No. (2) of 1993, the Rent Tribunal shall determine rent disputes arising between landlords and tenants of immovable property in the free zones of the Emirate of Dubai.

Article (2) The provisions of Article (1) of this Law shall not apply to: 1. rent disputes to which any free zone authority in the Emirate of Dubai is a party; and 2. rent disputes arising in free zones which have tribunals or special courts having jurisdiction to hear disputes arising therein.

Article (3) Subject to the provisions of Article (1) of this Law, the Rent Tribunal shall hear any rent dispute that has not, before this Law comes into force, been determined by the competent authority. ©2014 The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai 1Every effort has been made to produce an accurate and complete English version of this legislation. However, for the purpose of its interpretation and application, reference must be made to the original Arabic text. In case of conflict, the Arabic text shall prevail.

Article (4) Any provision in any other legislation shall be repealed to the extent that it contradicts the provisions of this Law.

Article (5) This Law shall come into force on the day on which it is issued and shall be published in the Official Gazette. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Ruler of Dubai Issued in Dubai on 14 June 2009 Corresponding to 21 Jumada al-Thaniyah 1430 A.H.
