    Article 1

    Article (1) This Law will be cited as “Law No. (1) of 2008 Establishing the Dubai Government Workshop”.

    Article 2

    Article (2) The following words and expressions will have the meaning indicated opposite each of them unless the context implies otherwise: Ruler: His Highness the Ruler of Dubai. Emirate: The Emirate of Dubai. Government: The Government of Dubai. Executive Council: The Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai. HHRC: His Highness the Ruler’s Court. ©2019 The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai 1 Every effort has been made to produce an accurate and complete English version of this legislation. However, for the purpose of its interpretation and application, reference must be made to the original Arabic text. In case of conflict, the Arabic text will prevail.

    Article 3

    Article (3) Pursuant to this Law, a public corporation known as the “Dubai Government Workshop” is established. The DGW will have legal personality, financial and administrative autonomy, and the legal capacity required to undertake all acts and dispositions that ensure the achievement of its objectives. The DGW may enter into contracts with third parties, may sue and be sued in its own name, and may appoint any other person to represent it for this purpose. The DGW is hereby affiliated to the HHRC.

    Article 4

    Article (4) The head office of the DGW will be located in Dubai. The DGW may establish branches within and outside of the Emirate.

    Article 5

    Article (5) The objective of the DGW is to provide transport, insurance, and maintenance services to the vehicles, machinery, and equipment owned by the Government of Dubai, and to the vehicles owned by their Highnesses the Sheikhs. The DGW may also provide these services to the departments, corporations, and local authorities affiliated to the Government of Dubai.

    Article 6

    Article (6) The Executive Director will be appointed to the DGW pursuant to a resolution of the Chairman of the Executive Council.

    Article 7

    Article (7) The Executive Director will have the duties to: 1. undertake general supervision of the DGW; 2. manage the DGW and represent it in its relations with third parties; and 3. enter into any contracts and agreements required for achievement of the DGW objectives.

    Article 8

    Article (8) The financial resources of the DGW will consist of: 1. the budget approved by the Executive Council; and 2. any other resources approved by the Executive Council.

    Article 9

    Article (9) The DGW staff members employed by the Dubai Municipality will be transferred to the Dubai Government Workshop established pursuant to this Law. Law No. (27) of 2006 Concerning Management of the Government of Dubai Human Resources will apply to these employees.

    Article 10

    Article (10) The Director of the HHRC will issue the regulations and resolutions required for the implementation of the provisions of this Law.

    Article 11

    Article (11) Law No. (17) of 2006 Affiliating the Government of Dubai Workshop to the Dubai Municipality is hereby repealed. Any provision in any other legislation will also be repealed to the extent it contradicts the provisions of this Law.

    Article 12
