Legal Notice
الإنذار العدلي
A legal notice is a formal demand served on the other party before litigation — commonly through the notary public or a court notifier — recording that you have asked them to pay, perform, or stop something within a stated period. In UAE practice it serves several purposes: it proves the debtor was put in default (which can affect entitlement to compensation), it is a precondition to certain claims such as some rental and contract terminations, and it signals serious intent, often prompting settlement before any case is filed. The notice states the facts, the demand, the deadline and the consequence of non-compliance. It matters because skipping a required notice can get a case dismissed as premature, and a well-drafted notice creates evidence you will rely on later. You meet it in debt collection, tenancy disputes, construction claims and contract terminations — on either the sending or receiving end.
