DIFC Courts
محاكم مركز دبي المالي العالمي
The DIFC Courts are the independent English-language, common law courts of the Dubai International Financial Centre. They have automatic jurisdiction over disputes connected to the DIFC and — importantly — opt-in jurisdiction: parties anywhere can choose DIFC Courts in their contracts even with no DIFC connection. Proceedings run in English under DIFC law and common law procedure, with internationally recruited judges, making the courts a popular neutral forum for banking, corporate and commercial disputes in the region. Their judgments are enforceable in onshore Dubai through established mechanisms, and a Small Claims Tribunal handles lower-value and employment claims. Businesses meet DIFC Courts through jurisdiction clauses; employees of DIFC entities use them for workplace claims. Lawyers value them for common law tools rarely available onshore, like document production and witness cross-examination.
