An offshore company in the UAE is an entity incorporated under free-zone rules specifically designed for holding assets and conducting business outside the UAE — not inside it. The main jurisdictions are JAFZA Offshore (Dubai), RAK ICC (Ras Al Khaimah) and Ajman Offshore. Offshore companies cannot obtain a UAE trade licence, rent office space onshore, or employ staff inside the UAE, but they can own UAE real estate (in designated areas), hold shares in other UAE companies, open multi-currency bank accounts, and own intellectual property. They suit asset protection, estate planning, international trading, and joint ventures. Offshore companies do not issue residency visas, file annual audited financials publicly, or receive UAE tax residency certificates by default.
