The Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) is an international financial centre located on Al Maryah Island with an independent common-law jurisdiction established by Federal Law No. 8 of 2004 and Abu Dhabi Law No. 4 of 2013. Like DIFC, ADGM has its own civil and commercial laws (which directly apply English common law through its own Application of English Law Regulations), courts, and financial regulator — the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). ADGM is active in banking, asset management, crypto-assets (it was an early mover globally on virtual asset regulation), fund formation, and holding structures. Its Registration Authority runs corporate and licensing services, including special regimes for SPVs, foundations (a common-law alternative to trusts), and tech start-ups.
