ILOE (Involuntary Loss of Employment Insurance)
التأمين ضد التعطل عن العمل
ILOE is the UAE's mandatory unemployment insurance scheme, introduced in 2023. Employees in the federal government and private sector must subscribe and pay a small premium based on their salary band; in return, a worker who loses their job involuntarily — not by resignation or dismissal for disciplinary reasons — can claim a monthly cash benefit calculated from their previous salary for a limited period while they find new work. Subscription is the employee's own obligation, and missing it triggers fines that can block visa renewals until paid. Most employees meet ILOE as a recurring small deduction or a renewal reminder; they meet it seriously after a termination. Employment lawyers check ILOE eligibility after redundancies and advise on whether the termination circumstances qualify for the benefit.
