Summary / Urgent Matters Judge
قاضي الأمور المستعجلة
The urgent matters judge is a UAE court judge empowered to grant fast interim relief where waiting for a normal lawsuit would cause irreparable harm — and without deciding the underlying dispute. Typical orders include appointing an expert to record the condition of a building before evidence disappears, ordering inspection, freezing a status quo, or stopping an imminent unlawful act. The applicant must show genuine urgency and must not ask the judge to resolve the merits, which stay with the substantive court. It matters because commercial life moves faster than litigation: preserving evidence or blocking a harmful step in days rather than months can decide the eventual outcome. You meet this judge in construction disputes (recording defects), partnership fights, and situations involving perishable evidence, with the substantive case filed separately before or after the urgent application.
