Power of Attorney for Property Sale
A property sale power of attorney is a notarised authorisation letting an agent sell, transfer or manage real estate on the owner's behalf — one of the most consequential documents in UAE practice because Dubai Land Department and other emirates' registries will only act on a POA that satisfies their requirements. Property POAs must usually be specific: registries commonly expect the property to be identified and the powers (sell, receive price, sign before the registrar) spelled out, and they apply validity-period rules to sale POAs. POAs signed abroad need the full attestation chain ending with UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legal translation. Because property POA abuse is a known fraud vector, owners should grant narrow powers, to trusted persons, for limited periods, and revoke promptly through the notary when no longer needed — revocation takes practical effect through notification. You meet it when buying or selling remotely, in family arrangements, and sadly in disputes where an old POA was used after the relationship soured.
