الوساطة
Mediation is a non-binding dispute-resolution process in which a neutral third party — the mediator — assists the disputing parties in negotiating a voluntary settlement. Unlike a judge or arbitrator, the mediator does not impose a decision. UAE Federal Law No. 6 of 2021 on mediation for civil and commercial disputes provides a statutory framework, including judicial mediation centres attached to most first-instance courts, confidentiality protections, suspension of limitation periods while mediation is pending, and a procedure for converting a mediated settlement into an enforceable document. DIFC and ADGM have their own mediation rules and centres. Mediation is increasingly embedded in UAE civil procedure as a mandatory pre-trial step for certain categories, including most small and medium-value civil claims.
