Judgment
الحكم
A judgment is the final ruling of a court that resolves the substantive merits of a dispute — whether the claim is accepted in whole or in part, dismissed, or declared inadmissible. UAE judgments are issued in writing, signed by the presiding judge, and contain three parts: the facts, the reasons, and the operative part (the dispositif). They are pronounced in a public session and must state the date, the composition of the bench, and the parties. A judgment becomes enforceable once it is final — either when the period for appeal has passed without challenge, or when it is pronounced on appeal or cassation. Judgments in Arabic are the authoritative version; certified translations are available. Foreign judgments can be recognised and enforced subject to the Civil Procedure Law and any applicable treaty.
