Court-Appointed Expert
الخبير المنتدب
A court-appointed expert is a specialist — accountant, engineer, banking expert, IT or handwriting examiner — whom a UAE court appoints to investigate the technical side of a dispute and file a report. The court defines the expert's mission, the parties advance the expert's fees as directed, and the expert holds meetings where each side submits documents and arguments. It matters enormously in practice: in construction, banking and accounting disputes the judgment usually tracks the expert's findings, so the expert phase is often where the case is really won or lost. Parties can comment on the report, request clarification, or ask for a substitute or supplementary report, but courts are not obliged to agree. You meet the expert after the exchange of memoranda, when the court decides the dispute needs technical investigation before judgment.
