AECB (Al Etihad Credit Bureau)
الاتحاد للمعلومات الائتمانية
Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB) is the federal company that compiles credit records on individuals and businesses in the UAE. Banks, finance companies, telecoms and utilities feed it payment data, and it produces the credit reports and credit scores that lenders check before approving loans, credit cards, mortgages and even some tenancies and jobs. A missed credit card instalment or a bounced cheque can sit on an AECB report and quietly block borrowing years later. Anyone can buy their own report and score through the AECB app, and a correction process exists for inaccurate entries. People meet the AECB when a loan is rejected and they want to know why. Lawyers use AECB reports in debt recovery to assess a debtor's exposure, in disputes over wrongly reported defaults, and when advising clients on rebuilding creditworthiness after settlements.
