    Article 1

    Article (1) Definitions 1. For the purposes of implementing the provisions of this Resolution, the following terms and expressions shall have the meanings assigned to each of them, unless the context requires otherwise: State : The United Arab Emirates. Authority : The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). Board : The Authority's Board of Directors. Director General : The Director General of the Authority. Competent Authorities : The federal and/or local governmental authority in the State entrusted with the implementation of the provisions of this System and the regulations issued pursuant thereto.

    Article (2) General Requirements for Drinking Water The Supplier shall ensure that the following requirements are met in Drinking Water:

    Article 3

    Article (3) Requirements for Unbottled Drinking Water 1. The Supplier shall ensure that the following requirements are met in Unbottled Drinking Water: a. Requirements related to safety and quality: Unbottled Drinking Water shall comply with all requirements stipulated in the Mandatory UAE Standard Specification (Technical Regulation) "Unbottled Drinking Water" No. (UAE.S GSO 149), as specified in Annex (1) attached to this System. b.     Article (5) Requirements for Electrical Appliances and Filters Used with Drinking Water The Supplier shall ensure that the following requirements are met in electrical appliances and filters used with Drinking Water: 1. Electrical Appliances: a. The requirements stipulated in the Approved UAE Standard Specification No. (UAE.S GSO 1811), as specified in Annex (2) attached to this System, shall be met in Drinking Water coolers, and they shall have obtained a Certificate of Conformity, the Emirates Quality Mark, or any certificate of conformity or mark recognized by the Authority in respect of imported packages. b.     Article 7

    Article (7) Requirements for Tanks, Tankers, and Vehicles for the Transport and Distribution of Drinking Water The Supplier shall ensure that tanks, tankers, and vehicles for the transport and distribution of drinking water comply with the following requirements: 1. Requirements for Drinking Water Tanks: a. Household water storage tanks manufactured from galvanized mild steel sheets shall comply with the requirements stipulated in the Mandatory UAE Standard Specification (Technical Regulation) No. (UAE.S GSO 588), as specified in Annex (1) attached to this System. b.     Article 8

    Article (8) Procedures and Penalties 1. In the event of any violation of the provisions of this System being detected, the Competent Authority shall take the necessary measures to remove the violation and its effects from the market, and for that purpose may: a. Require the violating entity responsible for placing the non-compliant product on the market to withdraw it for the purpose of rectifying its status, re-exporting it to the country of origin, or destroying it, within a period specified by the Competent Authority. b. Take all necessary measures to withdraw such products from the market, seize them, destroy them, or take any other necessary measures to remove this violation. The Compet…

    Article (9) Transitional Provisions 1. The Supplier shall, within a period of (180) days from the date of publication of this

The circulation of water containers that do not conform to the capacities and units specified in this System and that are currently available in the markets shall be permitted for a period not exceeding two years from the date of publication of this System in the Official Gazette.

    Article 10

    Article (10) Final Provisions 1. Annexes (1) and (2), which include the Mandatory UAE Standard Specifications and the Approved UAE Standard Specifications necessary for this System, shall form an integral part of its provisions, and the Authority shall update them whenever the need arises in accordance with the provisions of Federal Law No. (28) of 2001 Regarding the Establishment of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology, as amended. 2. The Approved UAE Standard Specifications listed in Schedule No. (2) annexed to this System shall be deemed mandatory for application in the State solely for the purposes of implementing this System. 3.     Article (11) Repeals Any provision that contradicts or conflicts with the provisions of this Resolution is hereby repealed.

    Article (12) Publication and Entry into Force This Resolution shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall enter into force (180) days after the date of its publication, and the Concerned Authorities shall implement its provisions.
