How do I dispute a traffic fine in Dubai that I believe was issued unfairly?

Asked by Anonymous·Jun 10, 2026·1 answers
I received a radar fine in Dubai on a day I'm fairly sure my car never left the building's car park, and I suspect the plate was misread. I don't know whether I should pay first and object later, or where an objection is even filed. Is there a formal way to challenge a fine, and what kind of evidence actually helps?

Yes, there is a formal route — Dubai Police accept objections to traffic fines, and a misread plate is exactly the kind of error the process exists to catch. You can file the dispute through the Dubai Police website or app, or in person at a smart police station, attaching your explanation and evidence. Do this promptly rather than paying first: objection windows are limited, so act as soon as possible after the fine appears. The evidence that helps most is anything placing your car elsewhere at the time — building car park access records or CCTV from your building management, salik or fuel records, and a clear photo of your own plate to compare against the radar image, which you can ask to see as part of the objection. If the plate digits genuinely differ from yours, the fine is typically cancelled at this stage. If the objection is rejected and you still believe the fine is wrong, the matter can be escalated through the traffic prosecution. Should it reach that stage and the amount justifies it, a UAE lawyer can take the challenge forward on your behalf.
