    Article 11

    Article (11) The Board of Trustees will have the duties and powers to: 1. undertake the general supervision of the management of the HBMSU; ©2020 The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai 1Every effort has been made to produce an accurate and complete English version of this legislation. However, for the purpose of its interpretation and application, reference must be made to the original Arabic text. In case of conflict, the Arabic text will prevail.

    Law No. (10) of 2016 Amending Law No. (13) of 2009 Establishing the Hamdan bin Mohammed Smart University Page 2 of 2 2. approve the general policies of the HBMSU and submit the same to the President for final approval; 3. approve the strategic plans and work programmes of the HBMSU; 4. approve the organisational structure of the HBMSU and submit the same to the Executive Council for final approval; 5. approve the bylaws regulating the work of the HBMSU, including financial and administrative bylaws; 6. approve the bylaws relating to the professional affairs of faculty and academic members, and to student affairs; 7. approve the draft annual budget and financial statements of the HBMSU, and submit the same to competent entities for approval; 8. approve the requirements for awarding academic degrees and certificates, and training certificates, in accordance with the criteria and requirements adopted by competent entities in the UAE; 9. assess and approve the annual report on the activities and achievements of the HBMSU; 10. establish, merge, and close colleges of the HBMSU; 11. approve tuition fees that must be collected from the students of the HBMSU; 12. appoint auditors of the HBMSU, determine their remuneration, and approve their reports; and 13. perform any other duties relating to the work and objectives of the HBMSU as assigned to it by the President.
