Dependent's visa expiry — does my son's still-attending-school status matter?

Asked by Anonymous·Apr 30, 2026·1 answers
My son is 19, still in his last year of UAE secondary school, visa on my sponsorship. Standard rule says dependent sons over 18 cannot be sponsored — but is school enrollment an exception?

Yes. UAE permits dependent-visa extension for adult sons up to age 25 if they remain in full-time education at a recognised institution in the UAE. Apply for the renewal with: school enrolment certificate, academic transcript, and your standard sponsorship documents. The renewal is granted year by year while education is ongoing. After graduation, he has 1 year on a job-seeker visa (renewable once) before needing employer sponsorship.
