Article (5) The DWE aims to strengthen the role of women at the local and international levels; reduce the gender gap; and achieve gender balance in all fields. For the purpose of achieving its objectives, the DWE will have the duties and powers to: 1. devise, review, and develop the policies aimed at empowering women and promoting their role in society; 2. contribute to devising the policies that promote Emirati women’s employment and offer them the opportunities to assume leadership roles in the public and private sectors; ©2017 The Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai 1Every effort has been made to produce an accurate and complete English version of this legislation. Law No. (25) of 2015 Amending Law No. (24) of 2006 Establishing the Dubai Women Establishment Page 2 of 2 3. propose the legislation aimed at improving the status of women and protecting their rights; 4. offer programmes, initiatives, and projects that support the Emirati women’s participation in all areas of life; 5. conduct research and studies focusing on women in the Emirate; 6. participate in local, regional, and international events and conferences related to women affairs and encourage Emirati women's participation in such events and conferences; 7. propose initiatives aimed at achieving gender balance in the Emirate; 8. promote a positive image of women worldwide and highlight the role and significant achievements of women; 9. create a database of the names of the female figures who are active members of society in all fields; 10. implement cultural programmes aimed at developing the abilities of Emirati women and increasing their awareness of their role in building society; and 11. perform any other duties required for the achievement of the objectives of the DWE.
