A UAE power of attorney (POA) is a formal written authorisation letting a principal appoint an agent to act in legal, financial, property, or court matters. It is governed by the UAE Civil Transactions Law and administered through each emirate's notary public departments. For serious dealings such as property transfers, litigation, or company matters, it must usually be notarised by a UAE notary public, and the agent can only do what the POA expressly permits, interpreted strictly against its wording.
